I work a civilian for the US Army within the Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Division... which is a civilian ran support organization for the military. I work at a desk here in the safety of my office, not the front lines. Good benefits and job security make up for the lower comparable salary and limited creative freedom, in my opinion. If you're interested, there are websites listing NAF positions within the military available to civilians through the civilian personnel office.
