    I think the fedex arrow, is a "happy accident" They saw it in the wordmark and used it to sell it, but it isn't the main idea behind the logo. As with any logo there are certain qualities that your client wants it to portray and things like this are nice when they happen but I would imagine Fedex required something pretty conservative overall, and by making the arrow any more prominent than it is, most likely would detract from the message they really wanted to put out there.
