owen hart died from a fall from a faulty harness line from the top of an arena. he fell 78 feet and bounced off the ropes and landed in the ring. he died from internal bleeding.
the sad irony of it was the attempted stunt was that of a caped superhero flying in obviously by harness, and then when he was at a safe height mid-pose the harness would give-way (purposefully) leaving him to land on his face all for comedic effect.
