I disagree on a number of grounds.
"Actually yes, and I would say take it one step further. Appoint an independent commission and an international commission to investigate proven abuses in Iraq and what level of command approved such abuses. Especially since it was supposed to be an international effort or coalition of the willing."
The let's investigate proven abuses in ALL WARS and related conflicts
"Ok, sure but I'm pretty confident that they weren't involved in crafting policy for treatment of enemy combatants and prisoners of war."
Oh, and limit investigations to "alleged war related crimes", and dismiss all other crimes that resulted from "iffy" past policies? I don't think so.
In other words, exactly why this, and why now, and importantly, where does this end?
Off to enjoy a beer or two now, while I make some Risotto.
