"There was no compelling reason why these classified documents should have been released."
A potential investigation and prosecution is a compelling reason. We'll see if it was a good move to release the documents.
"And then, I recommend that a "Special Committee" be assembled, so that we (the American people) may proceed to investigate ALL of Congress. Does this sound fair?"
Actually yes, and I would say take it one step further. Appoint an independent commission and an international commission to investigate proven abuses in Iraq and what level of command approved such abuses. Especially since it was supposed to be an international effort or coalition of the willing.
"Then, we should begin an investigation and prosecute Bill Clinton, for his policies. And then, investigate and prosecute "King George I", and Reagan for their policies."
Ok, sure but I'm pretty confident that they weren't involved in crafting policy for treatment of enemy combatants and prisoners of war.
