fine - I'm crazy, right now I'm sitting in a sanitarium with a drool cup in my hand and a protective yellow helmet on my head. Watch any MTV reality show, and that's exactly what LA is like - amazing - So ignore everything I said. U 2 can be spencer
But I still highly recommend visiting for a week, or more if possible - find some cheap flight on South West - sofa surf - and don't give up a rent controlled loft until you know for sure.
