Worst place on earth. If you work in the design field, be prepared - you wlll be working with some of the biggest weasels you've ever met.
All the cliches about pollution and traffic are as bad u heard, plus more. Beaches - no one goes into the water because of high bacteria count. Apartments are crap; 1960 - 1970's style "cheesy complex" aesthetics, and over-priced. My biggest surprise is the high level of racism - very segregated - and nobody gets along with anyone.
No downtown - just poser bars and club w/ expensive drinks - oh yeah, and trader joes.
Just because a place has warm weather does not mean you should live there - Hell is warm too.
If you meet someone who loves LA - for gods sake - turn around and run - fast. all the way to the east coast.

- Generally right about most of that, but downtown does have some cool bars. No trader joes in downtown though...twooh
