I think we've always had a certain % of the population who appear fat - but this has been shown to be genetic.

Where the problem lies is that the average person in the UK sits either at a desk, in a car or in front of a TV all day stuffing themselves with Mc'ds, chocolate bars and crisps. Probably to compensate for the loss of social interaction and sense of self worth/respect. It's like a staircase to obesity - one generation gets a little fatter, they have kids and then its ok for the kids to be a little bit fat than them... etc..etc.

The PC revolution taught us not to pick on fat people, so everyone relaxed and stuffed themselves and no one was there to say "who ate all the pies?".

I'm moving to Japan! people are still thin over there. And those that are fat are actually sportsmen!

    • I thought people 'appeared; fat due to convex mirrors, generallykelpie
