    I have had all kinds of financial incentives and threats in place to cover my time and the ongoing inconvenience of prattishness. In the end though I found myself at war with every client who dicked me about and eventually found myself going into a legal battle with a major ad agency over the penalties imposed as per my contract which they had signed. In the end it proved more stressful than just charging a fee and fighting to get paid, so I dropped all the clauses again.

    The problem with implementing clauses against certain types of behaviour is that there is always another situation that crops up that is not covered, forcing you to add another point to your contract.

    After about three years my terms of engagement contract was about 12 pages long. It drove me nuts.
