Rick... if you're capable of making a living and educating yourself... please get off you're ass.
This is something I would / will say to anyone... race, sex, religion... whatever...
And if your response is 'Yes - but good people fall through the cracks all the time'...
... my response would be:
No shit, Sally. Welcome to the fucking world. Would you like every baby to get a lei, ukulele and $10k to start out life? Should we start eliminating the idea that some folks are born w/'more talent' or 'more desire' than others and hope that everything starts to just even out smoothly so that each man, woman and child has the exact same lot in life according to their needs as apposed to their desires and personal motivation?
I'd then proceed to hand you a box of free kleenex and once again tell you to get off your ass as you're more than capable of creating a life for yourself in this country if you just open your eyes and stop hoping for someone to show up and wipe your ass for you.
