  When asked about the direct/belt difference, i usually say that direct drive is more for DJing, and belt more for audiophile

  I would second, the comment about changing the cartridge on the table you picked up before spinning anything on it, allot of hi-fi shops will do this for you when you buy from them, maybe look for a Grado Black for it, solid cartridge at a reasonable price.
