It's a nice spring day and I have the window in the office opened. A few minutes ago I heard a woman outside and I couldn't figure out if she was laughing or crying. I got up to take a closer look and saw that she was in fact crying. It's the type of crying that only happens when someone just finds out that someone close to them has died.

    • as awful as that is it's compelling when you think about how you've just encountered a real moment in someone's life7point34
    • that's really interesting. and sad.juhls
    • ... someone's life. you witnessed a very sincere and brutally painful moment.7point34
    • honesty in emotion is a rare thing. especially when you see something that is usually guarded and/or repressed7point34

    • I don't think it's rare, but maybe I know too many people who wear their emotions on their sleeves.juhls
    • but how many of them are melodramatic or histrionic? how real is it?7point34
    • A very real, and rare to witness, moment indeed. It instantly took me back to when I learned my mother had died.grunttt
    • sleeve worn emotions are one thing. Emotions that are so strong that it's imposible to supress - that's real.grunttt
    • I'm discussing anger more than anything else, but that's because I have a lot of family members with temper issues.juhls
    • I probably have the worst luck with knowing other people like that. But in terms of sorrow, that's different.juhls
    • yeah that's what i'm saying. exactly, grunttt7point34
    • in that situation would you think it would be appropriate to offer to hold a complete stranger?7point34
    • i like to think i would offer at least. spread humanity a bit.7point34
    • great post, grunttt. thank you for sharing.7point34
    • I always know exactly what's wrong with people, but it makes me too uncomfortable to comfort grown people. I'm not surejuhls
    • what that says about me. Not enough empathy in an outward fashion or something.juhls
    • That's probably why I don't expect other people to do that for me. Hmmm...juhls
