i can understand why they and a lot of other big agencies are moving in this direction... not least because every single client that works in digital wants to know what you can do for them in terms of social networking and user generated content. can i have a twitter? do you know what twitter is? no, but can i have one anyway?

a few years ago it was all about what you could do with full screen immersive content, lots of video, fancy transitions... and agency sites reflected that and pushed the boundaries of what could be done. but that is no longer what the clients want... they see the stats on their flash microsites, their returning visitors, the duration of their stay and then they look at the staggering numbers of people on facebook, youtube and the like and feel that they have missed out.

so, in order to appeal to the clients that open meetings with 'what can you do for us on facebook?' (which appears to be all of them these days) the obvious step is to build a site that says, quite loudly, web2.0.

as for the big spaceship site itself... well, i think it could have been put together a little cleaner... a little tighter (why the fuck are the next and previous buttons so big?) but i think they have mostly achieved what they set out to do.

their audience isn't us lot, (the two bit designers screaming 'shite', 'looks like it was built by a ten year old', 'looks like it is for retards', 'i saw a nicer site somewhere before once') it is the potential client.
