Those who say that the date of Easter is merely an appropriation of a pagan holiday are mistaken. You're confusing it with Christmas. While we know within about a one year range when Christ was born, no one is exactly sure what time of year he was born—though there has been speculation that it was some time in late spring.

The time of Christ's death and resurrection can be accurately calculated because it coincides with Passover. The well-known "last supper" that Christ spent with his disciples was the Passover Seder meal. Passover goes back to the time of Moses, when the angel of death stalked Egypt and passed over the houses of the Israelites. It has absolutely nothing to do with any sort of pagan rite. Any coincidental alignment of dates is just that.
