or you can be a little less stringent with the math... work out the top left and right margins... put a little fake text in to work out the optimum number of columns... shove the bottom margin in at one of the baselines formed and bobs your uncle...
This method works for 95% of the quick work I do. I go more in depth for the occasional work that actually warrants the time and care.
