No one's asked what your budget is... It's really easy to spend more money than originally intended so be pretty firm about what you want out of the bike. If you think you're going to graduate up to more technical or aggressive riding, then consider an All Mountain bike. But if you're going to be happy on your local singletrack for a while, then go with a good quality hard tail or an XC full suspension depending on your budget and how comfortable you want the ride to be. If you get an All Mountain bike without needing it, you'll end up with a heavier bike, which will in turn be less fun on your local trails.
