    designbot - just so you know the EU president isn't really a president of Europe. When people say "president of the EU" they actually the rotational seat of the "council of europe" which is passed to each member state for six months. It is a funtional element of the European Union rather than being anything actual political significance.

    In fact, The guy who made the statement, Topolánek, is/was the prime minister of the Czech Republic, and his government has just fallen after receiving a vote of no confidence from the Czech Parliament.

    He is well known for making outlandish and, frankly, bullshit statements in the past.

    although I do agree with not creating a protectionist system but not in the same way he means...
