Fuck you Mr. Geithner.
Now he's asking for the Treasury to have the power to take over collapsing non banking financial companies. Last week he couldn't even admit that his office fucked up when it deliberately asked for a loophole for those AIG bonuses. Sooo what you're saying is that the government, actually the Treasury, has the intelligence and foresight to step in and handle a corporation fire sale, but they can't even seem to get a handle on policy and contracts for the financial corporations we already fucking own? mmmm yeah and April 15th I'll be hiring Stevie the Bum to do my taxes. I'm sure everything will work out well. Since you know, idealism and bravado is all that's really needed when financial solutions are called for ... pay no mind to the failures of the past everything will be fine.
I mean, as John Q Public over here are we at least putting 2 and 2 together and realizing that a majority of our problems right now stem nearly directly from government policy? Or at least a lack of government policy in some areas (i.e. failing to require matching capital behind credit default swaps) and sheer jaw dropping failure to recognize and address obvious problems before they become egg, on, face gigantic catastrophic issues (AIG Bonuses, TARP, Barney Franks fat fucking lying mouth, SEC + Madoff, Community Reinvestment Act, fuck even Enron belongs in this category). I call myself a libertarian and I'll come right out and say it, I don't mind a little gov action. The problem is this: Can any of you tell me that what we're getting from these people is anything more than proof that they're out of touch and completely ineffective? Show me some upside, cheer me up! Almost every day I feel like politically we're living a god damn Kafka novel ripe with that dreamlike void of tangible conscious action juxtaposed with fantasy like situations. We're just watching these morons burn the sails to save the rudder.
