    "no likey looks clunky"
    - Shari

See here's my problem: I'm creating the look for an author of gritty LA based detective fiction. Very film noir feel to it, very dark and dangerous psychopaths to be tracked down, so in many ways it is a very masculine thing and written by a man, but the 'cop' character is a woman, and the brief is to create a look that depicts the genre, but is fresh and has some standout from the generic cop fiction style, is led by a typographic treatment, is gritty and tough but also alludes to a femininity and can have some cross over appeal to attract female readers to a traditionally macho genre.
