Whenever I'm presented with a situation like this I always try to put it into their terms that they can understand.

For instance: I had an older guy contact me about re-designing his companies website. They install the metal superstructures in tollways and whatnot. He called last Wednesday and wanted his site up by the 1st. I was just kind of shooting the shit with him saying "no way really, you guys put up the tollway stuff? what goes into that process?" and he explained everything out in detail for a process that could take months. So I asked would he take a job that needed a 2 week turnaround for a process that he knew takes months and he said no. Then I said "WELCOME TO MY WORLD MOTHERFUCKER" and hung up.

    • you called a potential client a motherfucker? I don't believe you.monospaced
    • yup. Plus he wanted to pay me $500 for a 50 page site and he caught me in a bad mood. I don't need that.sigg
    • LOL +1
Nothing wrong with being upfront, some people respect that!
