  You know, for the last two years of high school in 95 and 96, my hair was dyed blonde, then yellow, then white. All my clothes were from thrift stores. we collected women's belts and ceramic figurines from dollar stores. wore corduroy pants all the time, wore giant skateboard jeans. did nothing but go to school, skateboard, and play in a rock band. I remember the stares from "normal people," I remember my parents having the "he's just going through a phase" conversations. It was thrilling in a way, doing something so askew to what the average typical teen was doing. I(we) knew it was odd and we knew people found it odd.
