    For any non print heads or people who aren't used to setting indesign up, to keep your size down:

    Try to set up your artwork at actual size, ie when you're happy with a position and size in indesign save the image at this size, try not to scale an a4 image to fit into a tiny area as when you zip it it'll grab the A4 image as opposed to having a smaller image that'll be a fraction of the file size.

    resave the a4 image to the new size and make sure its 300dpi, that way instead of having a 20mb tiff (for instance) you might have a 2mb one.
