Rainman is on. It was released in 1988, so made in 1987. In one of the opening scenes of the movie Tom Cruise drives a Ferrari 400i past an almighty fuck off wind farm, bigger than anything we have in Eurp even now. We started with wind farms in the late 90's to my knowledge.
And yet we are so pious about our alternative energy use over here in Eurp and even crow about our wind farm innovation.
Its the same with vehicle emissions. The US forced emissions cuts on its auto industry in the 70's, 30 years before we'd even ever thought of such a thing over here. They killed their own muscle car culture in doing so. And the US was unleaded about 20 years before Eurp.
But all we hear about is how big bad America refuses to embrace ecologically motivated innovation.
That kind of thing always interests me.
