  You can't beat some of the west coast beaches. I lived in Sarasota for many years. Siesta Key beach is a big one, but a bit touristy. I prefer Lido and Crescent Beaches. I love Boca Grande/Gasparilla Island. There's a great seawall towards the tip of Boca Grande that looks out into the Gulf. Also, Sannibel and Captiva are gorgeous.

  The Ringling museum of art in Sarasota isn't bad for classic paintings. They have some fantastic Ruebens, among others. The Dali museum in St Pete is pretty cool to visit. Also the St Pete museum of art has some decent paintings.

  I don't like Ybor like some of the other folks on here, but I do agree it's interesting. I'm not much of a get drunk and run through the streets yelling type of person :P
