    Well, I own a Canon Digital Rebel Xti that I bought in 2007. I found it too heavy and too big to bring it all around.

    what you have is an SLR camera, and since its one of the economy/ consumer models its probably one of the smallest/ lighter cameras you will find.

    What you want is a point and shoot.
    Since you shoot canon already, I'm going to go random and post this

    Canon Elph. any model that is somewhat recent will do.

    It looks like you have double or triple the budget for the camera you want so you could just pick the top of the line point and shoot and still have change left.
