I've been working on a piece of work for ages. I've been methodically sketching the shape, refining the sketch, lining the sketch into a drawing, laying down flat beds of colour in each section, toning each section for shadows, overlining it, adding keyline highlights and shadows, adding coloured texture hairlines where necessary... layer by layer, building it up, building it up, working here and there over the last few weeks.

I have a can of Lascaux fixative for the new colour pieces I'm doing and a cheap can of Boots hairspray for the black and white stuff.

I reached for the fixative, sprayed it, and suddenly all the over layers just disappeared and all the black line work came screaming to the forefront and turned bright purple.

I picked up the hairspray by mistake and it fucking ate the last three weeks of delicate colouring and shading work.

Trashed. Every fucking time it gets destroyed before I'm finished.

    • do you still have the art? perhaps you can use it as a background and draw over it. may look cool!!blog
    • you can cover that surface with matte medium so it seals the hairspray. then draw on top of it.blog
    • holy shit
