I drifted off to sleep thinking about it last night. I had in mind some fairly unique camera work to set it apart from other sitcoms. Nothing whacky and weird, just subtle little things.
Also, I thought that each episode would be so unremittingly bleak and desperate that maybe there should be just one moment of absolute and genuine humour to catch the audience by surprise. Like happening across a ruby whilst wading through an ocean of rancid shit.
Also, I wondered if it could use a really hackneyed and played out TV convention that comes from the bottom of the barrell... the dream sequence. But we really make it our signature thing. Each episode will feature a portion of the show (and this links back to the ruby in the shit) which shows a wonderful, effervescent transcendence of the despair and hopelessness... Peter Babbidge gets pushed right to the brink and then with his nose pressed against it, right at the end of his tether and just about to throw it all in... he sweeps triumphantly upwards, he laughs, he sees the funny side, he dances joyously down the street with Rambo, his colostomy bag, embraced in mock affection. Its all smiles, its all good. Fuck it. You only live once. Joi de Vivre spews out of his every pore.
And then he trips, lands face down on hard concrete, and we're back there at the pustulent arsehole of his misery. Condemed by this fleeting and insubstantial fantasy of happiness to just try and crawl on through the shit for one more day. Cursed by one last ragged vestige of optimism that clings weakly to his black outlook.
- i like it, it might serve to offer a glimmer of hope for the audience, give them somthing before bricking them into the dank well of hopeless reality on season endkelpie
- dank well of reality on season's endkelpie
- built in obsolesence will make it special too, no season 2, not ever. the cunt's dead, you know?kelpie
- YES, I thought that too. Each episode should allude to his death, but he's still there at the end...********
- Episode 8 just the same, but we end with him not getting up, black blood trickling from his lips. DEAD AS FUCK. NO MORE.********
- (NO MORE)********
- then our comic relief appears to see him, her only friend, and robs his body before shutting the door behind herkelpie
- I'd be crying by this pointkelpie
