Yes, just select "Mac os extended" and any partitions you want and then hit "format".
be sure tho: you need to follow the instructions that came with your drive on what to do with the limitation jumper. osx can handle big drives, but many computers can't... so there is a jumper on the back of the drive that makes the computer think you have a smaller drive (which osx doesn't need). your drive manual wll tell you how to reomve or where to put it so you can get the full drive space.
