Saigon, Hanoi, Hoi An, Halong Bay, Dalat all worth a look for sure.
I would fly into Saigon and travel up the coast to Hanoi or vice versa.
Traffic, jeez, I've never been somewhere where the wrong side of the road is basically a spare lane for anyone in something bigger than a moped. Nuts! Loads of friendly people and great, cheap food.
