1789 is classic Georgetown, and the years when it was recommended as the best in DC are decades back. People say it was one of JFK's favorite spots. It's directly above an old bar and popular Georgetown University haunt called the Tombs - apparently a favorite of Bill Clinton when he was an undergrad. Now, the bar is part of the Clyde's group and has more of an Applebee's feel in my opinion.
Additionally these places are directly across the street from the Exorcist house. Not a huge deal in itself, unless you're a fan of the movie.
