Georgetown is probably your best Newberry Street analogue. Annie Creamcheese on M Street is a cool boutique on M Street there, but you'll find. Georgetown Cupcakes on Potomac Street is seems to be a popular place for sweet snacks. The western end of M Street also has a lot of interior design industry stores, so if you have any home improvement projects on the horizon, it could be a fun place for a couple to window shop. Also, a nice bookstore is on the opposite, east end of M Street - Bartleby's Books. Mendecino is a nice wine bar on M Street. Not bad for a dinner either. Mie N Yu is a cool M Street spot for drinks too.
Also with restaurants - maybe lookup the websites for Centrale, Blue Duck Tavern, and Obelisk. See what interests you.
I'll repost if I can think of anything else.
- Fuck. A shot for each time I said M Street.waterhouse
- And I think that restaurant is properly spelled Mendocino.waterhouse
