Get an external drive and properly back your shit up, you get the software for free anyway.
Any of the new Verbatim external hard drives comes with a free copy of Nero BackItUp Essentials 2, I've used it and it's great.
Western Digital drives also have proprietary software for their MyBooks which are pretty good.
The NT Backup system can be configured in quite a complex manner if you're a DOS scripting guru, but I would generally avoid it.
