Our IT guy here at work did some un-scientific test with a G5 and a 2.4Ghz Dell
1.8Ghz G5 had 4GB of RAM
Dell 2.4Ghz had 1GBBoth running Photoshop 7
The G5 handily beat the living shit out of the Dell running a bunch of photoshop filters - noise, large gradient drawing, blur, and then they rotated the canvas.
(18inx18in 600 dpi or so)Dell took 15 mins to rotate.
G5 did it as soon as they hit enter.In other words - The G5 is pretty fast, and OS X loves RAM.
G5 and a fast P4 will be neck and neck.
so, now you gotta look at other thingsLike the OS.
and we all know OS X kicks ass
