In the late 80's there was a big retro fashion trend in Brum hovering around 50's Americana but with a bit of Brit thrown in. The thing to do was to go down to the rag market and buy old Harris Tweed jackets from the second hand stalls. These things had generally been peeled off the rotting corpses of extinguished pensioners who had put them on on Demob day and never taken them off again. Boy did they STANK. So me and my mate Clarkey used to steal bottles of Kouros from Rackhams dept store, spread the jackets out on our beds and literally tip entire bottles of Kouros onto them to mask the smell of 50 years of pre-deodorant B.O.
To this day my brain conjures perfectly the curious smell of half a pint of old stale Kouros and ancient B.O just by looking at a Kouros bottle.
