  as your using a CMS that is tied into the current db and you are going to use it for the re-design I would stay away with recreating the db the way you want to. If you did you would have to make sure the CMS worked with your new db structure - which might give you blindness in one eye if your not careful.

  Your tied to the CMS so I would go looking for the documentation for that first and it 'should' explain how you integrate it into your new design.
