you might ant to include a "what i offer the company and what i think we can do in the future" preface to your outstretched hand in this current economic uncertainty. if it looks like your wanting to improve the business and also get some more yourself it'll come across a lot better than simply wanting more. with all the redundancies of late you might be less irreplaceable than you think.
