For me, I was well into to the music first and design second at that time. When I was starting design school, I really didn't like the graphic history we were being taught about, nor did I care much for the contemporaries at the time, like Carson and Brody... and coming from a graf-writing background, being into hip hop and the acid jazz scene, his work always spoke louder to me than the more traditional graphic design of the day.
Granted, it didn't last very long...
