    the 'unable to write file' error usually means the file you're writing is in use, it happens to me in c4d when i export a .mov, import it into ae and then try to re-render the same file from c4d...

    i forget what the tool is but if you hit the space bar it switches modes and keyframing is easier for me in that mode...

    things like particles and dynamics, things that are dependent on time-based calculations need to be played from frame 0...
