pdfkey will only unlock print/copy without password. this type of password lock still lets you view the pdf. it can also be stripped with the above colorsync hack.
if the pdf is encrypted, it asks for a password before it even lets you view it, pdfkey won't be able to unlock this type of pdf. it can create an unlocked copy, but only after you supply the encryption key.
