And what makes you think (food) agriculture is profitable all by it's lonesome? Do you have any idea of how deeply subsidized the food industry is? How many handouts and tax breaks the food industry gets? (Socialized food corporations)....or what about all the tax breaks given real estate and retail developers? Government subsidy again.
Tommyo you really don't see how this works do you? But go ahead and figure that if the government gives money to poor people, or money to educate the masses or keep people healthy that infringes on the people's "freedom", but giving money left and right to corporations whether it's a subsidy (ongoing) or a bailout (crisis) is you know "free market at work".
Let me spell it out to you - It's socialism for the rich people, who can bend politicians ears. Can you do that? No. Industry can. Big Business can. And they do. And they will.
I would rather have a flawed, wasteful government system serving the people with the recourse of the ballot box as a corrective than a system where money is funneled to the rich where the voice of the people is silenced.
