Dig,
If you really want to do lino-cut you've got to carve about 2–4mm deep. You'll need a brayer (rubber roller) to get the ink on evenly. You'll also need some printing ink — for lino, speedball ink/paint works well. Roll it out on a piece of glass with your brayer and then roll it onto your cut. You'll also need a press of some kind. Failing that, you can use another, bigger, heavier brayer.
