Last week I took a brief to make a piece of bling buty persuaded the client not to go down the bling route and to have soemthing more sophisticated instead. I did two options, one leaning slightly into the bling camp as a gesture and another, very elegant piece of silverwork that actually had some historical relevance... it was loosely shaped as an abstract Fleur-De-Lys. The emblem was being designed for the organisation's 125th birthday and I know that the organistation started out trading under the Fleur-de-Lys. It was their first logo.

They don't want to develop it though. I don't mind I suppose. They pay me for the work I do yet its a bit frustrating because they never proceed with any of the work they get me to do. It always gets 'cancelled' and then they do it themselves in-house to save having to pay the ongoing development fees. A bit underhand but you either take the work thats offered or you turn it down on principle and get nothing at all. It would be nice though, just once, to showcase a really nice piece that was actually taken through to production.
