    bottom line, 2 hits PMS black plus whatever other color you want, + overall aqueous or varnish (unless you want a gloss/dull effect, in which case you'd need two spot varnishes).

    Either way, using spot colors only will cost less money than trying to wrangle a 4CP black. It can be done, but why use four inks when two will suffice?

    BTW if you're concerned about registration with thin lines, I've knocked .4 pt rules out of black before. I used .3 for thin rules on white or light backgrounds. .4 of any color on black is a safe weight, any lower and they'll struggle with the fit.
