  I wonder if the content of the early BBSes was as redundant as today´s blog drivel. I somehow imagine it to have been more valuable due to the restricted user base, now every common otto is his own sysop.

  Before the internet I frequented a small number of boards with geek stuff, and pron/warez and ansi art packs. I could never dial cross-atlantic because of the phone rates. one hears it was a little bit more diversified in the US, they say there were over 200,000 boards at the end of the nineties?
