-It's possible that Mrs. Fezziwig or whatever her name was (the woman who was talking to Ben at the end of this season's second episode) could be Daniel's mom, that would make some sense.
- i don't believe all the flashes are time distortions. For example, nothing on the island changed when The Swan almost blew up and allowed 815 to "find" the island. Nor did anything change when The Swan eventually blew up. Those were electromagnetic distortions, which possibly could have been used to stabilize the time fluctuations. Since the Swan blew up there have been some somewhat noticable discrepancies in the show (pictures on the wall changing from scene to scene, clocks jumping in time) that aren't continuity errors.
- Claire, in my opinion is dead (or as dead as you can be on the island). When Sawyer found her in the rubble of the building that the Freighter goons blew up, she called him Charlie (had she just seen Charlie?), then Miles (who talks to dead things) showed a great interest in accompanying and then observing Claire when they and Sawyer were headeed back toward the beach after the smoke monster chased the Freighties away. Then, of course, she's chilling in Jacob's cabin with Jack's Dad, who was dead before they even got on the plane.
And most importantly:
a thousand billion times hotter than Kate
