  I don't think struggling with academics necessarily has much to do with how well someone plays in sports.

  On another note, this story reminds me of the Canadian Women's Hockey Team and how they kept obliterating the competition during the last Olympics. Other teams and countries actually complained that they shouldn't be scoring as much as they were, and should be considerate of the other team's lack of ability and resources.
