okay the 17 inch toshiba, without a battery is 9 pounds....with a battery its 11.5 POUNDS! its 16.7 inches long, over two inches high, and 11.5 deep, pretty massive and heavy for a semi decent laptop. Not portable!
Sony's sexy. plastic, with a whaa memory stick? I have no idea what to do with that...my friend has a 16' sony, he says the support is useless, and he's had it in the shop three times.
I bought a Apple 17 inch Powerbook, 6.8 pounds....totallly portable, tested it up against dell inspiron 8500 with 2.4 gig, blows it away running osx 10.2.6, in photoshop and graphics apps, gaming was compreble on both systems.
but if you need to really check out a PC, I have always been totally blown away by www.alienware.com they design for gamers so you get the best 3d stuff on the market, and always the fastest available processors and video, cool colors too!
