    For sure - joint accounts, like everything else in a relationship, require communication. If your relationship is fine (i.e., you're able to communicate with your significant other), then there are definite benefits to joint checking accounts.

    BTW, if you're worried about what happens if/when you get divorced, if you're in a community property state like California, whether your moneys are in two accounts or one, it's all going to be split right down the middle anyway. Separate checking accounts won't protect you from all-mighty divorce laws.

    (just don't get married)
