without the detailed brief it's hard to know where they are going with this but:
1) an italic or script font might work better.
2) If you go with the first option try mixing up the heights of the notes like a score would naturally be... also, the feel of music is there in the notes, but they aren't exactly note like... the round shape of a note is more connected to the stem. You could also think about adding in quaver lines or some other marks such as rests, etc... don't go overboard though.
It's also looking much better than this US company... lol
