the new one is flat and has no sense of atmosphere - a flat color on a flat color. the old one had that beautiful texture about it so that the site actually corresponded somewhat to a sense of the restaurant. granted, the new one looks like it was done by a savvier web designer, but it looks incomplete and bare - there is no "message" there, just a lot of bolded navigation text hitting my eye when i first load the page. at least the old one gave me something more interesting to look at.
this isn't a dig at you, more like agreement with your first post, d_rek - it is amazing what clients will ok. i looked at your portfolio and you are pretty frickin good - it just doesn't show on this site.
if you ever figure out the balance between making everything you do excellent, and making sure that you work only the hours that you are paid for, let me know - i am still trying to figure that one out myself.
